A Study of the Health Interests of Inchon Elementary School Students


Abstract
The purpose of this study was undertaken to determine the Health interests by elementary school in iochon.
This study involved 490 Elementary school Students ranging from 4th grade to 6th grade and was carried out from December 5 to 15, 1983 research instrument used which was originally the health interest inventory by Ramsdell, was modified. data was analyzed by the S.P.S.S. computer program using T-test and F, test for statistical significance.
Results of this study can be summarized as follows:
1. The most interested health areas were [Dental Health], [Control and Prevention Disease], [Mental Health] and the least interested Health area was [Sex Education]
2. Comparing students health interests by grade, There was a significant difference in grade mean score,[Community Health], [Nutrition], [Personal Hygiene], [Structure and function human body], [Sex education]. The most interested health areas in 4th grade was [Mental Health] and in 5th grade and 6th grade was [Mental Health]
3. Comparing students health interested areas by sex. There was a significant difference; Girls were interested in [community Health], [Control and prevention Disease], [Medical Institution], [Dental Health], [Family Health], [Personal hygiene], [Sex education], [Weight control].
4. Comparing students health interested Areas by years. There was a significant difference in [Community Health], [Control and Prevention Disease], [Medical Institution], [Dental Health], [Personal Hygiene], [Structure and Function human body], [Sex Education].
5. Comparing Students health interests by numbers of brothers and sisters. There was significant difference in [Dental Health]. And there was no significant difference by occupation of parent.
